1. Introduction
Prof.Wang Jiong, Ph.D. Supervisor of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), previously served as the Director of the General Office at the State Key Laboratory for GeoMechanics and Deep Underground Engineering. Now Prof.Wang serves as the Executive Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory for Tunnel Engineering, and the Executive Dean of the Institute of Deep Space Science and Engineering.
Prof.Wang also holds positions as the Vice Chairman of the Deep Space Exploration and Development Branch of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, Deputy Secretary-General and Director of the Soft Rock Engineering and Deep Disaster Control Branch, Director of the Engineering Safety and Protection Branch, and a Young Editorial Board Member for Green and Smart Mining Engineering Journal and Coal Science and Technology Journal.
Prof.Wang has been awarded with many honors including the Young Top-Notch Talent of the Chinese Ten Thousand Talents Program, the global top 2% scientists from the 2023 Science Influence Ranking, Outstanding Talent of Qinghai Province, and the Sun Yueqi Young Scientist Award.
Wang Jiong has presided over two national-level projects and led six major provincial science and technology projects. He has participated in more than ten major development plans and national research by the National Natural Science Foundation. He has undertaken more than 40 significant scientific research topics commissioned by famous corporations.
His research achievements have won six first-class awards including the National Ministry of Education Technology Invention First Class Award, Shanxi Province Science and Technology Progress First Class Award, China Coal Industry Association Science and Technology Progress First Class Award, and China Rock Mechanics and Engineering Society Technology Invention Special Award. In addition, four academic books were published by the effort of Prof.Wang and his colleagues. During his career of researcher, more than 30 authorized Chinese patents and three American patents were obtained, and more than 80 papers were published with more than half were included by SCI/EI.

Primarily engaged in teaching and scientific research in new mining technology of pillarless self-formed roadway which known as ‘the 110 mining method’,the fields of mine rock mechanics, and deep roadway support.
